About the Winery

Terrace Edge is a family-owned organic vineyard and olive grove situated on the sun-drenched, north-facing slopes of the Waipara Valley in North Canterbury, New Zealand. Established in 1999, our vineyard is characterised by its dramatic terraces, Glasnevin gravel soils, and a strong commitment to sustainability and regenerative farming. The unique terrain and microclimate enable us to produce wines with exceptional character, elegance, and depth.

Our organic philosophy goes beyond mere certification. We believe in nurturing the land naturally by using biological sprays, cover crops, and native plantings to enhance soil health and promote biodiversity within the vineyard. This hands-on, low-intervention approach allows the vineyard to express its distinctive terroir, resulting in wines that are vibrant, complex, and a true reflection of their origin.

We grow and handcraft a focused range of varietals, including Pinot Noir, Syrah, Riesling, Albariño, Sauvignon Blanc, St. Laurent, and Pinot Gris. Many of our wines have received national and international acclaim, with notable achievements including multiple trophies and gold medals. Terrace Edge has also been recognised as New Zealand’s Organic Vineyard of the Year three times: in 2018, 2021, and 2025.

At our core, we are storytellers of the land through wine. Whether you visit our tasting room, share a bottle with friends, or explore our vineyard, you will experience the care, resilience, and passion that go into every drop of Terrace Edge wine.

Meet the Team

At Terrace Edge, the heart of our vineyard is in the hands of two passionate experts who care deeply for the land. Mark Hayers, our Vineyard Manager, oversees the day-to-day care of the vines with experience and dedication, ensuring each vine thrives in the unique Waipara terroir.

Working alongside him is Nick Gill, our Viticulturist, who brings his expertise in organic and regenerative practices to nurture healthy soils and balanced vines. Together, they help us grow the high-quality grapes that form the foundation of every Terrace Edge wine. Their commitment to sustainable farming and respect for nature is at the core of what makes our wines so expressive and true to their origins.
