Candice Chow is an accomplished sommelier with nearly two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, specializing in fine dining. Originally from Hong Kong, Candice spent two years exploring Australia before settling in Queenstown, New Zealand, where she has worked at prestigious establishments such as Eichardt’s Private Hotel, The Rees Hotel, and Rata by Josh Emett. Located in close proximity to the Central Otago wine region, Candice has seized numerous opportunities to deepen her understanding of winemaking, sharing her knowledge with restaurant staff and industry professionals as the leader of the Queenstown Sommeliers Club. Her expertise and passion for wine education have earned her recognition within the industry, including being selected as a 2019 NZ Wine Sommit Scholar and participating in the esteemed 50 Best “Somms of The World” program organized by Wine Australia in 2017, as well as the Family Of Twelve Wine Tutorial in 2020, and named Top 50 Most Influential & Inspiring Women of Food & Drink New Zealand 2023.
In May 2020, Candice transitioned into a full-time wine reviewer, publishing her insightful work on RaymondChanWineReviews.co.nz. Alongside her reviewing endeavors, she provides wine list consultation services, conducts staff training sessions, and organizes engaging wine tasting events. Currently, Candice continue to pursue her WSET Diploma certificate, aiming to inspire others to appreciate and enhance their skills within the industry.
Driven by her extensive experience and unwavering dedication, Candice is now poised to launch her own website, CandiceWineChat.com, in 2023. This platform caters to the modern wine enthusiast, celebrating all aspects of wine and the individuals who shape our industry.
